In June 1982, Pastry Chef Michael Brown left Howard University in Washington, DC ready to face the world. He then enrolled in the L'Academie de Cuisine culinary school in Bethesda, MD to study gourmet baking and graduating at the top of his class, as a certified pastry chef. Michael went right to work first at the Washington Hilton Hotel and then B&B Caterers. He had his work featured in several "Taste of Washington" and "Taste of Annapolis" cooking festivals. Michael's reputation for delicious and awe inspiring presentations was the catalyst that allowed him to move from employee to owner. He opened up his own bakery in 2001 in Annapolis on St. Margaret's Rd.
Cakes and Confections Bakery Cafe is proving to be successful beyond all that he could have dreamed. In 2013,
he relocated the bakery to Severna Park, MD....only 15 minutes from the Annapolis. Not only do they now supply cakes, pastries and desserts to the entire Anne Arundel County community, but to several restaurants and caterers in the area. Their Severna Park location features an eat in cafe which allowed them to expand their breakfast and lunch business. Michael shares the business responsibilities with his wife, Julianne. They have an amazing team of bakers and cake decorators who have been with them for many years....say hi to Megan, Shira or Edgar the next time you come by!!
Michael and Julianne love the area and their customers and are proud of the down home family atmosphere that is evident as soon as you enter the door.
